Course Overview
The Autism Friendly Charter was created by Autism SA in collaboration with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
As part of the Autism Friendly Charter, we offer a free online training course to support a more inclusive world for us all.
Business, organisations, agencies, departments and authorities must have 75% of their Autism Friendly Charter registered workforce complete the training before they will be invited to join the Charter by committing to the Autism Friendly Charter Principals and are able to be listed on the Autism Friendly Charter Directory. They will receive an Autism Friendly Charter Welcome Pack which includes additional resources and Autism Friendly Charter branding.
As an individual, you are able to complete the training and receive a certificate however, you will not be invited to list on the Autism Friendly Charter Directory or receive an Autism Friendly Charter Welcome Pack.
The Autism Friendly Charter Training includes five modules with a focus on developing your understanding of autism and to develop confidence in applying autism friendly practices to support inclusion.
Included in the training are five modules:
An introduction to the Autism Friendly Charter
Module 1: Autism
Module 2: A spectrum of characteristics
Module 3: An Insight: If the World were Built for me
Module 4: Developing Autism Friendly environments
Module 5: Your Commitment to the Autism Friendly Charter
Each module consists of a video element, followed by a questionnaire. When you have watched the video carefully, please complete the questionnaire, and then continue to the next module.
When 75% of your workforce has completed all of the Modules and answered the questionnaires, your business or organisation will be invited to commit to the Autism Friendly Charter Principals, will be invited to list on the Autism Friendly Charter Directory and receive a Autism Friendly Charter Welcome Pack and can display that you are autism friendly.
